Legionella are waterborne bacteria capable of proliferating to infectious levels in manmade systems including hot and cold water services. Legionnaires’ disease can then be contracted by inhaling small droplets of water containing the bacteria. Any water system that creates a spray or aerosol carries an increased risk.
