Flood Risk Assessments

A Flood Risk Assessment is required for most developments within one of the flood zones, including:

• More than one hectare in flood zone 1
• Less than one hectare in flood zone 1 including change of use in development type to a more vulnerable class (for example from commercial to residential) where they could be affected by sources of flooding other than river and the sea (for example surface water drains, reservoirs)
• In an area within flood zone 1 which has critical drainage problems as notified by the Environment Agency
• In flood zone 2 or 3 including minor development and change of use

Flood risk specialists are generally required to carry out a flood risk assessment. We can help you meet the requirements for planning applications, examine the potential for and extent of flooding now and in the future, and provide you with a plan to mitigate any risks discovered during the assessment.

Alongside assessing the potential for flooding, our risk assessments can also provide recommendations for flood resistant and resilient building design, compensatory flood water storage design, flood plain analysis using industry leading modelling software and a Flood Evacuation Plan.

We collaborate with the Environment Agency (EA), Lead Local Flood Authorities (LLFA), Internal Drainage Boards (IDB) and Drainage Undertakers to find suitable solutions.
