An Energy Statement is a report that’s submitted to the Local Authority to support planning applications for new development. The report outlines how the development will meet the Local Authority’s Policy on Carbon Emissions and Renewable Energy.
Policy varies depending on the Local Authority but can include a 10%, 20% or 35% reduction in Carbon emissions compared with Part L of Building regulations.
The term ‘Energy Statement’ can vary from council to council but essentially these are all the same. Examples of alternative names:
The Sustainable Construction Checklist is a planning condition required by some Local Authorities. This document assesses areas such as energy efficiency, water usage, transport, biodiversity, flooding and accessibility. Your project will then be scored and given a rating.
