Legionella are waterborne bacteria capable of proliferating to infectious levels in manmade systems including hot and cold water services. Legionnaires’ disease can then be contracted by inhaling small droplets of water containing the bacteria. Any water system that creates a spray or aerosol carries an increased risk.
As an employer or someone with overall responsibility for a building, you must identify areas of risk, take action to control risk, appoint a responsible person, keep appropriate records and make staff aware of the risk as required under Health and Safety Law.
Our Legionella Risk Assessments can ensure your company fully complies with the latest legislation, allowing you to keep your business and staff safe. The assessment will cover your building’s water systems and provide a list of actions you can take to mitigate risk.
